Urban Education
CURE believes that every child should have equal access to a proper education. CURE has set up preschool centres in slum areas on a fee-paying basis to introduce schooling at an early age and help create an education-friendly environment. It has supported worker-training programs that provide certificates in early childhood education from centres such as the IIT Resource and Enabling Centre in Delhi. CURE is also part of the Urban Education Task Force, an informal think tank of urban education professionals.
Promoting Youth Development
As part of its Cross Sectoral Youth Project (CSYP), CURE has mobilised groups of young girls and boys and is improving their employability and civic participation skills. Its community mobilization initiatives are primarily targeted at women and girls, but it also works with men and boys to develop greater sensitivity to women’s issues. As part of CSYP, CURE has developed gender specific indicators to understand women and young girls access to basic and social services.
