DECENTRALISED WASTE WATER TREATMENT (DEWAT) system provides efficient treatment for domestic and less industrially polluted wastewater. It has low primary investment costs as no special power utilizing machines are needed. Thus it is non-dependent on energy and power requirement.. low-level technology and designs are utilized efficiently in DEWAT system and thus it is reliable and has a long life span. It is tolerant towards inflow fluctuations and peak loadings. DEWAT does not require expensive and sophisticated maintenance as well.
One of the most critical problems of Kachhpura is its improper disposal of sewerage and waste water. Almost half of Kachhpura drains into the drain channel that cuts across the northern part of the settlement. This drain channel meets the river Yamuna after cutting through the Mehtab Bagh without any treatment. The other half of Kachhpura drains into the low lying community toilet close to Mehtab Bagh. Under the City Development Plan developed under the JNNURM, a 26 MLD sewage treatment plant has been planned for trans-Yamuna Agra which is yet to be constructed. In the interim period, a decentralized wastewater treatment plant has been designed for Kachhpura.
